Mormon Airlines

They really don't like Mormons in Ghana. Nevermind the fact that the government once shut the church down, now Mormons are being blamed for "taking food from the mouth of Ghanaians."

Everything revolves around the morphing of GhanaAir into Ghana International Airways (GIA). I bet you didn't know that the church owned an airline, but according to Ghanaweb, GIA is "Mormon-owned." And because GIA has claimed the money that the Dutch carrier KLM was to pay GhanaAir, Mormons are stealing from Ghanaians.

It's cloak-and-dagger stuff. According to Ghanaweb, "the national carrier may soon be given to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (sic) and its agent." The church's agent is Sky West airlines who, of course, have a Salt Lake City address and are, therefore, an organ of the Mormon Church. The Mormon connection is "as thick as the thigh of the elephant", says Ghanaweb.

Responding to this hostile takeover, the Ghanaian media has taken to telling the "untold story of the Mormons" (Mormons are racist), and how the President of Ghana is in the pocket of the Mormon church.

Meridian has a nice series of articles on the church in Ghana. Strangely, they say nothing of this Mormon plot to take over the country. I smell something fishy.

It's almost amusing that the Ghana Chronicle's stance toward the LDS Church is so consistently hostile. Every so often I check Ghanaweb.com for the latest damning story from the Chronicle regarding the "Mormon-owned" airline.

Here is my favorite story from the Chronicle: Darrick Evenson, "hardcore Mormon" spokesman

From the article revealing the scandalous truth about Latter-day Saints comes the following nugget:

Joseph Smith’s successor, Brigham Young - the second prophet of the church whom Mormons believe, led them to the Salt Lake Valley after they had been chased out of New York and also out of Mavou- along the swamp of the Mississippi river due to their religion.

Mavou, eh?

A search on Darrick Evenson indicates that he identifies himself as an evangelical Christian, a Mason, a Mormon, a Jehovah's Witness, and a Baha'i. I'm sure feeling lazy now.

And a racist, if the Chronicle quoted his profligate use of the "N" word accurately.

Geeze,

I did a short Google search on this guy.... his own writings make me wonder...

From what I can get out of them, he left the church at one point because he couldn't get hooked up with the ladies? Somehow the fact that they were all replused by him, yet didn;t have the heart to tell him that they didn;t want to go out with him because maybe they thought he was nutters, (although, he wasn;t much of a looker either) was reason enough to condem all people as hell bound liars. Lucky for us, this brain surgeon has returned to our fold... Oh boy...

He is the type of person the the antagonists feed off of, and he gives them plenty of fodder.

So aside from posing as an intellectual of sorts, (I admit it looks like he has done a little bit of research, though I disagree with most of his conclusions... he at least looked some stuff up) from what I gather, he likes this Baha'i dude, and he digs aftrican American women?

Great to know that some third world country is going to go into a deeper state of civil war over a guy that they REALLY want to represent the church... After reading his other things... I wouldn;t doubt that he wrote what they said he wrote... I can only imagine that the GA's know about this fella. I can also only hope, that they will ask him to pipe down.

I've been following this for a while, and the other player in the deal with SkyWest is Sentry Financial Corporation, out of SLC. When I first read the GhanaWeb allegations, I tried to track down whether or not Sentry was a branch of one of the church's financial companies. So far, all I've been able to find points conclusively that Sentry is not a chuch affialiate is that the CEO gave $200 to the Gore 2000 campaign :-)

If I remember right, Darrick Evenson wrote this and is black himself. Maybe that's wrong though.

Is absolutely NOT black... and in my humble conclusions, is not quite all there...

He is trying to associate with people that even look a bit black! Saying that ALL people of color are the one race. I wonder if he's ever left home? He is absolutely white tho...
